The Oz Manouche mini-fest will be a whole afternoon of 'Manouche' artists, four hours of gypsy, flamency, rhumba and swing artistry.

Jazz Manouche is a term for Gypsy Jazz music. Birthed in Paris in the 1930s it was started by legendary gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt (from the Manouche gypsy clan) and Stephane Grapelli, violinist, who incorporated the swing beat with their Romani style music. Jazz Manouche features virtuosic guitar playing, often incorporated with double-bass, violin or possibly accordion or clarinet. Saturday 25th November will see the Sunshine Coast’s first mini Oz Manouche Fest with an afternoon of Gypsy Jazz music.

You will get swept up in the Gypsy fever with toe-tapping music from ‘The Mistachios’ and ‘Sancha and the Blue Gypsies’

The Mistachios play serious guitar music by a duo that don’t take themselves too seriously… In a dynamic display of virtuosity they play Gypsy Jazz in the style of Django Reinhardt, plus Spanish Gypsy Flamenco and Rumba, which makes for an exciting adventure in guitar artistry. They play classic tunes from the Paris Café 1930’s era to fiery Rumba Flamenco in the style of the Gitanes of the Camargue. Fun abounds when these 2 get together, jamming a mix of everything you never thought possible into a action packed set.

Doris Day meets Django Reinhardt in the sweet swinging outfit Sancha and the Blue Gypsies. With a refreshing take on traditional folk, bluegrass, jazz and gospel tunes and a lifetime of performance experience between them, this joyous collaboration of some of Sydney's most respected musicians are headed your way. The lineup features Sancha Prowse (Vocals, Mandolin), Marcus Holden (Fiddle, Mandolin, Guitar, Vocals) Garry Steel (Accordion) & Stan Valacos (Double Bass, Guitar). From Leonard Cohen to Alison Krauss with a hint of Chick Corea, you'll be enthralled by this swinging quartet!

It is true delight to witness such experienced musicians in full "gypsy swing". Get your gypsy on and join us at the Oz Manouche Fest on Sat 25th November, 2 – 6pm, at The Bison Bar, Nambour.
